Santo Grau Itirapuã is a traditional cachaça from the interior of São Paulo. It´s stored in Jequitibá barrels, a neutral wood that doesn´t interfere with flavors and aromas from the barrel. It has a light aroma and its flavor is smooth and fills your mouth. The historic waterwheel drives the whole "engenho" (cachaça distillery), without the use of electricity. The old stone mill turns corn into cornmeal, ingredient of the natural fermentation, and the distillation takes place in small copper stills. The waters of Itambé River have been flowing for over 150 years around the "engenho" (distillery) and have been witnessing the production of this cachaça. The original production methods have been preserved by the family and passed on from one generation to another since 1860.
